Get WASPL
WASPL is free software. The code is public on GitHub, always in its latest version, and starts on your own server with Docker.
Install in three steps
Prerequisites: Docker, and preferably make. The repository’s README gives every option, including VS Code dev containers.
- Clone
- Get the code from GitHub. The main branch is always the latest version.
- Configure
- The setup script checks the prerequisites (Docker) and prepares the environment files.
- Start
- One command starts MongoDB, the applications and an NGINX proxy.
git clone https://github.com/janfix/waspl.git
cd waspl
./setup.sh
make prodThen open http://localhost/editor/ for the editor and http://localhost/runner/ for test taking. For development with hot reload, use make dev.
Before deploying
WASPL runs on your server, with your data. A few settings are your responsibility.
- Status
- Pre-alpha: under active development, not yet ready for production use with real student data.
- Secrets
- The configuration files contain placeholders only. Replace every JWT secret with a random value before deploying.
- Administrator
- Set the initial administrator password, or note the one printed once at first start, then change it.
- Demo data
- Demonstration accounts use fixed passwords: never load them on a production server.
The repository’s security policy lists these settings, and explains how to report a vulnerability privately.
Licence and contributions
- Free software
- GNU Affero General Public License, version 3. You can use, study, modify and share WASPL; if you offer a modified version as an online service, you publish your changes.
- Commercial licence
- For proprietary uses or integrations that cannot follow the AGPL, a commercial licence is available.
- Contributions
- Bug reports, fixes, new interaction types and translations are welcome, under the contributor agreement described in the repository.
For the commercial licence, support or integration in your institution, write to us. Integration and support are part of our advisory work.
